Validation of an Online Engagement Scale

The purpose of this study is to validate a scale under development aimed at better understanding online student engagement in higher education.

Your participation will involve the completion of an online questionnaire that will take approximately 30 minutes of your time.

The purpose of this study is to validate a scale under development aimed at better understanding online student engagement in higher education.

Your participation will involve the completion of an online questionnaire that will take approximately 30 minutes of your time. If you do not wish to participate, simply discard the survey. If you decide to take part and later change your mind, you are free to withdraw from the project at any stage. You will be unable to withdraw your data, however as it is an anonymous survey. Your decision whether you take part, do not take part, or take part and then withdraw, will in no way impact your current or future relationship with the University of Southern Queensland.

All responses are confidential. The names of individual persons are not required in any of the responses. Participant’s data will be made available for future research purposes (whether for similar projects only or for full unspecified use). Data will be stored and shared as non-identifiable as this survey will not collect any identification. Any data collected as a part of this project will be stored securely, as per the University of Southern Queensland’s Research Data and Primary Materials Management Procedure (https://policy.usq.edu.au/documents/151985PL#4.3).

In participating in the survey, there are no anticipated risks beyond normal day-to-day living. Sometimes thinking about the sorts of issues raised in the survey can create some uncomfortable or distressing feelings. If you need to talk to someone about this immediately, please contact your medical practitioner, Lifeline, on 13 1114.
