Project Title
SHAPE Approach to Wellbeing Workshop
Description
The purpose of this project is to measure the stress, coping and wellbeing process of students who have attended the SHAPE approach to wellbeing workshop. The SHAPE approach to wellbeing is based on research findings from the theory of wellbeing PERMA (Seligman, 2011) and Revised Transactional Theory of Stress and Coping (Goh et. al., 2010). It is a model for maintaining health wellbeing through adjusting one’s immediate Surrounding, personal Health, engagement in daily Activities, one’s Perception of self and environment, and one’s Emotions. Hence the acronym SHAPE.
The workshop offers participants key information about SHAPE’s impact on wellbeing, experiential learning activities and self-reflection to help them plan out strategies for monitoring and improving personal wellbeing. This workshop will run for 3++ hours.
The SHAPE approach to wellbeing workshop aims to empower participants in active management of their wellbeing and stress as a university student in a sustainable way. After attending the workshop, participants will have a better appreciation of how to adjust one’s surrounding, health, activities, perceptions, and emotions to improve general wellbeing and reduce stress level.
This project is being undertaken as part of Psychology Honours Thesis Course through the University of Southern Queensland.
