Description

This project is being undertaken as part of a Master of Education program through the University of Southern Queensland.

The purpose of this project is to provide insight into the support needs of teachers to implement relationship and sexual

education (RSE) programs in their schools.

Participation

Your participation will involve completion of an online questionnaire that will take approximately 10 minutes of your time.

Questions will include:

  • 25 Rating scale questions about your capacity to teach RSE
  • What has been your experience teaching RSE at your school?
  • What else do you need to support you need to teach RSE?

Your participation in this project is entirely voluntary. If you do not wish to take part, you are not obliged to.

If you decide to take part and later change your mind, you are free to withdraw from the project at any stage.

You will be unable to withdraw data collected about yourself after you have completed the questionnaire.

Your decision whether you take part, do not take part, or take part and then withdraw, will in no way impact your current

or future relationship with the University of Southern Queensland.

Expected benefits

It is expected that this project will not directly benefit you. However, it may increase my insight and knowledge about the

support needed for teachers when implementing RSE programs.

As a school Guidance Officer, this will provide me with important information to assist teachers in the future.

Risks

In participating in the questionnaire, there are no anticipated risks beyond normal day-to-day living.

Sometimes thinking about the sorts of issues raised in the questionnaire can create some uncomfortable or distressing feelings. If you need to talk to someone about this

immediately, please contact Lifeline on 131144. You may also wish to consider consulting your General Practitioner GP for additional support.

Privacy and confidentiality

All comments and responses are confidential unless required by law.

The names of individual persons are not required in any of the responses. The deidentified data will not be shared or used for other purposes.

If participants request information or a report of the data an executive summary will be provided.

Any data collected as a part of this project will be stored securely, as per University of Southern Queensland’s

Research Data and Primary Materials Management Procedure.

Consent to participate

Clicking on the ‘Submit’ button at the conclusion of the questionnaire is accepted as an indication of your

consent to participate in this project.
